First-North-East-Health-Safety-Training-Academy-to-Open-400x400

A health and safety training academy is set to open at a college in Teesside, becoming the first of its kind in the North East.

Redcar & Cleveland College will launch the academy next month as it aims to deliver the relevant hands on experience and high quality training to satisfy the expectations of employers and students who to aspire to work in the health and safety industry in the region.

Lead tutor in health and safety, Colin Willis, and his team of dedicated practitioners, will provide a wide range of accredited courses. Among these is the flagship NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma and the NEBOSH Level 3 International General Certificate.

The academy is set to open its doors for the first time on Monday, September 5, and, in conjunction with the region’s employers, will also offer bespoke health and safety courses at foundation level.

The experience that the team have acquired with SABIC UK at Wilton International in delivering a Competence Assurance programme will be unique to the academy and will allow employers to benefit.

Included in this programme is competence assessor mentoring and training, on-going support and policy development.

All courses have been designed with the flexibility to meet the requirements of all organisations that intend to monitor their employees’ competence.

Willis admitted that he is thrilled for the college to be making progress in the delivery of specialist health and safety provision in the North East’s education sector.

He continued: “We are always looking for new opportunities to expand our service to our students. Drawing upon our reputation, expertise and facilities we look forward to assisting them to raise competence in health and safety management in their workplace.”

Students who intend to enroll on a health and safety course at the college are advised to sign up during enrolment week from August 25 to September 2, if not before.
